What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is a science-based, personalized healthcare approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms. Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on treating acute symptoms with medication, functional medicine takes a holistic view—considering how a person’s genetics, environment, and lifestyle factors interact to influence long-term health.
Benefits
-
Customized treatment tailored to your biology
-
Helps uncover hidden imbalances—gut health, hormonal issues, toxins, nutrient deficiencies
-
Uses advanced lab testing to detect problems traditional labs often miss
-
Empowers you with tools for sustainable health: nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, and mindset
What to Expect
You’ll start with an in-depth new client visit where we’ll review your health timeline, lifestyle, past lab work (if applicable), and your current symptoms. You may be asked to complete specialized testing for hormones, gut health, nutrient levels, or toxins—depending on your needs. Your treatment plan may include targeted nutrition, lifestyle changes, herbal or nutritional supplementation, detox protocols, and stress-reduction strategies.
For example, if you struggle with chronic fatigue, instead of prescribing a stimulant or antidepressant, we investigate the why—is it thyroid dysfunction? Blood sugar instability? Poor mitochondrial function? A hidden gut infection? We treat the root cause to restore real, lasting energy.
How it Helps
Functional medicine is especially powerful for chronic conditions like autoimmune disorders, IBS, chronic fatigue, thyroid imbalances, anxiety/depression, and hormonal issues. It’s ideal for patients who’ve been told “everything looks normal” but still feel far from optimal.
