What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is a hands-on manual therapy that focuses on the fascia— the web-like connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. When fascia becomes restricted due to injury, stress, or poor posture, it can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. We are trained in a variety of soft tissue therapies including Active Release Technique (ART), Graston & FAKTR (IASTM), and Fascial Manipulation.
Benefits
-
Relieves chronic muscle tension and pain
-
Increases mobility and functional movement
-
Improves circulation and lymphatic drainage
-
Aids nervous system regulation and stress relief
What to Expect
Myofascial release is performed using slow, sustained pressure into areas of tension or restriction. Unlike massage, which often uses oils or quick strokes, this therapy involves deeper work without gliding, allowing the tissue to fully release. Many patients describe it as deeply relaxing and subtly powerful. It can be integrated into a broader treatment session or used as a stand-alone therapy.
For example, someone with chronic neck and upper back tension may have tight fascia pulling on surrounding muscles and joints. After several sessions of myofascial release, posture improves and tension headaches decrease significantly.
How it Helps
Especially effective for fibromyalgia, postural dysfunction, chronic pain syndromes, and athletes recovering from repetitive strain. It resets the body’s tension patterns and helps you move freely again.
